Now You See Me 2 Not As Magical As Predecessor, But Still A Fun Time

now

Now You See Me 2 is the follow-up to the 2013 hit from director Jon M. Chu and even though it lacks the big magic from the first film, it is still a fun ride. In the sequel, the horsemen find themselves with a new member and in possession of a bunnyless hat. The team has been set up by a tech wizard with an ulterior motive. With only their magic and one another to protect them, the group must unite to pull off their biggest magic trick yet.

Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Frano, and Woody Harrelson return as their respective characters, Dylan, Atlas, Jack, and Merritt. Each character was just as fun as the first film, though Merritt was a little underused. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine also came back as Thaddeus Bradley and Arthur Tressler.

Lizzy Caplan steps in as Lula, the newest Horsemen, and is a wonderful addition to this heavily testosterone-filled cast. She blends well with the fellas and steals quite a few scenes. Daniel Radcliffe is fun as the tech wizard, Walter Mabry. His portrayal of Walter is not as villainous as one would expect, but he does manage to still create a character more than a little unhinged.

In a film that is supposed to be centered on magicians and magic, Now You See Me 2 is surprisingly lacking that mystical touch. However, the film is filled with twists and turns around every corner. If you were a fan of the first film, you will be a fan of the second.
