BB Exclusive: Jedidiah Goodacre Express His Love For Ireland, His Costars, & New Film Finding You With BB
BeautifulBallad had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with Jedidiah Goodacre and chat about his upcoming film, Finding You. Based on the novel There You’ll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones, Jedidiah takes on the role of Hollywood heartthrob, Beckett Rush, who upturns violinist, Finley Sinclair, in the most perfect way.
On his experience filming Finding You: “It was fun, fun, F-U-N, in every sense of the word, the people I got to work with were amazing. I got to go to Ireland and get paid to work there. Ireland is such a beautiful country and the people are so full of life and awesome, and I really took that away from my time there.
On bringing Beckett to life: “Bringing him to life was just, I don’t know, fun. He’s a real guy, even though he’s the superstar actor, like Harry Styles type guy, he’s still a real person dealing with real people things. And so that’s something that I had a lot of fun, because I’ve played a lot of vampires and warlocks and right? So, doing this was a nice breath fresh air to get into some stuff that I know a little bit more about.
On filming a movie within a movie: “Oh, that was awesome. The movie within the movie its, way more of a production than I thought it was going to be. The explosions were huge. The fireballs were real. All of the actors were done up. I felt like I was on the set of Lord of the Rings or something like that. And yeah, I’ve never felt cooler, and I don’t think I’ll ever feel that cool again, but it was just so much fun.
Finding You hits theaters tomorrow, May 14.

On filming and exploring Ireland: “Filming in Ireland was awesome. What a joy. I’m so silly, because I didn’t want to leave my dog for a month and a half, I almost didn’t do this film. But my agent manager and our lovely director, Brian, convinced me otherwise, and said, ‘You’re an idiot if you don’t do this.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, then cool. Yeah, I’ll do.’ And then I get to Ireland and I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, thank God I came because there’s this amazing.’ The rolling hills and beautiful green grass and wild horses, and I was blown away by it all. And then the people there are so cool and easy going, and just like, I don’t know. I don’t want to say my type of people because they’re not, but I was like, ‘Oh, these are my type of people I can hang out here.'”
On working with his leading lady, Rose Reid: “Rose is one of my favorite people on the planet, love her to death, and I don’t know what she said in the interviews about me, but she was definitely the glue that held me together over there. I’m a kind of a wildcard and chaotic guy. I’m not always in the spotlight that I’m supposed to be in. I’m kind of hard to find sometimes because I’m off exploring something, and she was always there to reign me in. She was also a great tennis partner in the game of batting, couldn’t ask for anyone better.
And I was so happy that it was her that I ended up working with, and yeah, we just had a lot of fun. Another thing, there was so many times where the crew and people, we were like it was getting late or something, the sun’s going down, we’re losing light, we need to get the shot and me and Rose can’t stop laughing at each other. I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, will you just, oh,’ it was just so much fun working with her. So Rose was awesome.”
On working with Katherine McNamara: “She’s a great, great actor and I learned a lot from her, how she just kind of carries herself on set and stuff, and yeah she really made it fun to play the kind of elevated dialogue, where it’s a little bit over the top. That movie within the movie type of thing. So, it was fun to do that. So it was kind of hard to keep a straight face through some of those things.
On having Tom Everett Scott play his father in the film: “[He] is such a cool guy, such a great actor. What a diva, the guy you see on screen is not the guy he is in real life. I hope he feels okay with me saying this, but he’s like a mentor to me. I look up to him, definitely. He’s like a older brother figure and he was cool guy hang out with.
On the delightful Saoirse Monica Jackson: “Saoirse Monica Jackson is hands down funniest person alive. Love her. I think so funny. I think she is so funny, and yeah, give her all the flowers for sure.”
On working with Vanessa Redgrave: “I only got to work with her for a short amount of time, but that is the most memorable moments that I’ve had in my acting career so far. She is such a master of her art, and whatever she is doing she’s in control, and there was just this one moment where I improvised something and she didn’t see it coming, and I felt like in that moment, I was in the ring with Muhammad Ali, for one brief moment of a second I was at her level, and then she brought me right back down to size. But that was a really cool moment, and I’ll cherish that for rest of my life for sure.”
On the hardest part about filming this movie: That’s a tough, no one’s asked me that. Hardest part about filming this movie. I don’t know. I don’t know if they’re, I’m so lucky to do what I did. I’m so lucky to be an actor and to travel to Ireland and film this movie and work with the people that I’ve worked with on it. Like what bad part though? The worst part about it is being away from my dog for a month and a half. And he’s over here. He doesn’t know that I’m gone. He’s over at a dog hotel, they’re taking them out for runs, giving them massages and he’s living the life, and so there’s no hard part.
On why he thinks fans should watch this movie: “I think fans should watch this movie, especially right now, when it comes out May 14th or stream it afterwards, because right now it’s a great movie for the time that we’re all in. I know this has been said a million times before like, “We’re all in this together, we’re all dealing with something tough,” it’s true. We’ve all been dealing with lockdowns, and restrictions wherever you are and stuff like that, and now in the United States, things are getting better and safer to go out to the theater and stuff like that. But you still can’t travel. So, you can’t go to Ireland, but what you can do, is you can go check out this film, and for an hour and a half you can watch this beautiful lighthearted romantic comedy, some other great storylines, and be taken to Ireland.
Because I think this film, the best thing it does, is it reminds us that not everything is as it seems, Give everything a second look and a second chance, but also just taking people on a journey to a different place. And Ireland let me tell you is a different place. It’s like the movie Avatar being in Pandora. Magical. And this film does amazing job of just hopefully helping you get through a little tough time or something more or whatever, just going out for a nice date. It’s a fun film and yeah, very lighthearted and perfect for the time.”
