EXCLUSIVE: Amanda Warren Talks Betty & the Final Season of Dickinson
Over the past two seasons, Amanda Warren has played the role of Betty on AppleTV+’s hit show, Dickinson. The voice of reason in many aspects, we have watched Betty grow and in this upcoming final season, she finally grows into her own.
We got the chance to sit down with Warren and talk about the Betty’s growth, the show’s final season, working with Chinaza Uche, and so much more. Check out what she had to say below.
Are you satisfied with how Betty’s journeys ended this season?
“I am. We’ve had an incredible writers’ room the entire time. And Alena [Smith] spoke with us, in large part, about what the journey was for each of these characters. She’s spoke with us very early in season one. And to see where we leave them is… I’m very happy.”
What will you miss most about working with Chinaza Uche [Henry]?
“I always knew that I could laugh with Chinaza, and we’d take it easy breezy. We always did the work at home, so it was nothing but a playground on the day, and such a blessing, such a gift to be in his company.”
Was there anything about Betty, this season, that really surprised you when you first read the script?
“I wouldn’t say surprised as much as the excitement of seeing her out of the Dickinson household, out of their element of work life. And I think that’s all I can say about that, but seeing her in different ways was really, really beautiful.”
This season, you really got to see Betty come into her own. As an artist, how exciting was that for you?
“It’s always exciting to put on the layers in character development, to see different moments, and explore the human condition through the character’s eyes. It’s always a real treat to do that. So, that was a good time. That was a roller coaster of a good time. It was very thrilling. And like we keep saying, to have so much to be able to feast on and then for it to be the final season is really just a very beautiful way of wrapping a bow on something that we hold to be very near and dear.”
The final season of Dickinson will premiere this Friday, November 5 on AppleTV+.
