I Feel The Pain

The Hunger Games needs to make a bit of money if we want Catching Fire to see the light of day.

According to Collider, The Hunger Games needs to make $100 million at the box office in order for the sequel to be made. Head of Lionsgate, Jon Feltheimer, stated, ““The Hunger Games must hit $100 million in domestic box office sales to justify making sequels. “I’m not too concerned we won’t get to that kind of number.”

And why should he be concerned when passed book adaptations like Harry Potter and Twilight setting box office records with every release, one would assume The Hunger Games will do just as well. However, many of our beloved book adaptations have also tanked at the box office, like The Golden Compass and Eragon. So in all honesty this film could go either way. We will just have to wait and see on March 23, 2012 when the film is released.

Do you think The Hunger Games will make more than $100 million at the box office?
