On his growth from his early performances to The Paperboy: “I was playing the wide-eyed kid, and I was. But as the material changes and my taste change and I want to be involved in more character-driven material, I find more in-depth preparation is necessary.”
On taking on the role of Jack Jansen in The Paperboy: “I’m proud to say that I was courageous enough to step into a part I didn’t fully understand and followed my director blindly.”
On doing a big-budget film: “…it has to be the right project. I don’t know that I’ve earned the right to hold a gun, if that makes sense. I need to pay my dues.”
