Leigh Leverett, costume designer for The Vampire Diaries, opened up to Entertainment Weekly about what is to come, stylewise, for Nina Dobrev’s character, Elena, in the new season.

In the first episode of Season 4, Elena had to deal with the fact that she was now a vampire. With this transition will also come a transition in what she will be wearing. Leverett said, “We’re giving her a slightly more sophisticated look.” She will be wearing more dresses and boots instead of her usual jeans and T-shirts.

Fans will also see Elena rocking more jewelry, Leverett “…added that we’ll be seeing Elena in more chain necklaces this season.”
