The Weinstein Company has acquired the domestic rights to Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters. The company announced the news today, February 10, after it was negotiated at the Berlin Film Festival.

Co-Chairman, Harvey Weinstein, revealed this is his first time venturing into the world of Young Adult fantasy films and said “I am thrilled to be working on the first feature for VAMPIRE ACADEMY. This series is fantastic and I am excited to bring it to the screen for diehard fans and introduce the stories to a whole new audience.”

Producer Don Murphy also exclaimed his excitement for the acquisition saying, “The addition of Harvey and the TWC distribution and marketing team gives us the opportunity to present this wonderful franchise to the world in a bold, unique fashion and only adds to VAMPIRE ACADEMY’s considerable momentum.”

I am so surprised the Weinstein Company picked up a film like this but I could not be happier. I am excited to see how this affects the film.

Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters will be released on February 14, 2014! ONE YEAR!
