Billboard is predicting some pretty big things for Nickelodeon star, Ariana Grande. Ariana just released her new single, “The Way” featuring Mac Miller earlier this month.
The song debuted at #10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and is the first solo single to be released by the star. Ariana spoke to Billboard about the song saying, “I cut my vocal on it and then Mac and I had been hanging out for a while at that point, and I was like, ‘I really want you to feature on this record. What do you think?’ And he said, ‘Sounds like a hit to me.’”
Republic’s label’s executive VP, Charlie Walk also revealed “It was 8:00 one night, and I heard a song coming from Monte’s [Republic co-founder] office through my wall. He called me down and I played a video, a DIY of Ariana Grande. We heard the song and I immediately made the decision to set it up [and] put the song out.
Ariana is the only Nickelodeon star to be signed with Republic after requesting a ‘carve out’ deal when she joined Victorious, leaving her free to sign with any label she pleased.”
The hope is to shell out more singles from Ariana as the year continues with an album being released before the end of the year!
