Where Did He Come From
Vanessa Hudgens sat down with Harper Bazaar UK to chat about her new film The Frozen Ground. Highlights from the interview are below.
On what attracted her to the role: “Characters like this don’t come around very often. I love pushing myself because that’s the only way to grow. When I met the director (Scott Walker), he was so passionate about the film that from that moment I knew I had to be a part of it.”
On meeting the person her character is based on: “I got to hang out with Cindy for a weekend in L.A. She told me all about her life, from her earliest memories to where she is now – she was excited and willing to share her story with me. I also got to spend some time with the detective, Jack Halcombe. He played me the actual tapes of Cindy during interviews, which helped throw me into the ‘real world’ of the story.”
On filming in Alaska: “When I first arrived it was still fall, winter hadn’t quite hit. I went on hikes and felt very humbled by the beauty of Alaska. But as soon as the snow came the wind chill dropped to -30 and it became much more challenging. The harshness of the environment helped, as it made the scenes feel very realistic.”
