BeautifulBallad attended an advanced screening of Thor: The Dark World, the sequel to the 2011 hit, Thor. Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, and Kat Denning reprise their roles in the superhero movie.
In the movie, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and his brother, Loki to take on the Dark Elves and their leader, Malekith, who are trying to send the universe into darkness. The characters are a little more developed and the chemistry between the characters is better in this film. Darcy (Dennings) and Loki (Hiddleston), who do not share a scene together, really shine in this movie. Darcy’s reactions to certain things had me laughing and who can’t help but love Loki. The interactions between the characters also seemed more believable. The movie was filled with a little more comedy than its predecessor making the characters a little more relatable.
Director Alan Taylor did a good job bringing to life the other realms featured in it. Asgard, the home of Thor, looked like an actual mystical land that was worthy of being home to demi-gods. You felt like you were traveling to a different world watching the movie. The end fight scene was also shot really well. It did a fine job of showing what was going on without feeling jumpy or shaky.
My only negative with this movie was I wish it had been longer. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t feel too short or too long, but I feel like they could have added a little bit more. I also would not waste my money on the 3D. The movie was not made for 3D, it was converted during post-production. As always make sure to stay through the end credits. You get not only one scene, but two.
If you are a fan of Marvel movies and the Avengers, you will not be disappointed by Thor: The Dark World.
