2013 saw the arrival of several amazing albums including our Five Favorites! This past year the ladies (especially) of Pop brought their A game and gave us some incredible albums.

One of the most anticipated albums of the year was Miley Cyrus’s fourth studio album, Bangerz. This was her first post-Disney album and boy, did she deliver! The album kicks off with a love song and then takes us on the journey of a relationship beginning to crash and burn. Favorite tracks: “Maybe You’re Right” and “#GetItRight”.

Ariana Grande was the new kid on the block this year with the release of her first album Yours Truly. Her debut showed she is a force to be reckoned with and her collaborations with Mac Miller, Big Sean, and maybe boyfriend, Nathan Sykes proved she is game for anything. Favorite tracks: “The Way” and “Tattooed Heart”.

Selena Gomez ditched her backing band, the Scene on her fourth album Stars Dance showing it is sometimes better to go at it alone. Her lead single “Come and Get It” was a perfect summer song and the album is filled with several danceable numbers. Favorite tracks: “Come and Get It” and “Birthday”.

Demi Lovato also released her fourth album this year, the self-titled DEMI featuring the hit “Heart Attack” and the underrated feel good song “Made in the USA”. This album saw a more adult side of the X Factor judge and a return to pop-rock. Favorite tracks: “In Case” and “Neon Lights”.

Not to be out-shined by the ladies, One Direction released their third album Midnight Memories. Much like their two previous efforts, Midnight Memories is pop-fun but their newest offering also contained a more rock sound which showed off the groups maturing tone. Favorite tracks: “Happily” and “Little Black Dress”.
