Fight For What Is Right
Selena Gomez is set to be honored with the Young Humanitarian Award at the United4: Humanity event tonight, February 27, in Los Angeles. Selena recently spoke about the honor and her work with UNICEF in a new interview.
On using her celeb status to help people: “Ultimately the goal is just to use what I have. I have a platform and I’m very, very blessed to do what I love to do every day. The first step is using your voice. I want to be able to influence people my age, younger, older. I want to educate people.”
On creating awareness through the help of UNICEF: “We encourage people to understand that we’re not just in this tiny bubble. There’s a lot of other things going on in the world. It just kind of put things in perspective and hopefully we’ll be able to change that.”
On traveling the world with UNICEF: “They have a different way of viewing life, and it just kind of takes you to this whole other place and makes you step back and look at your life. It’s just the greatest feeling.”
