All They Seem
Elle Fanning chatted with Yahoo at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Elle was at the festival to premiere her new films, Young Ones and Low Down.
In the interview, Elle talks working with her Maleficent costar, Angelina Jolie, her sister Dakota, Maleficent, and so much more. Highlights can be found below.
On working with Angelina: “From the moment we started shooting, we got really close. I loved working with her and watching her. I felt that I was trying to sort of mirror her in a way. When I was off the set, I would watch her move and how she would stand. And I would think, ‘I’m going to stand like that, too.’ Angelina is an incredible woman and actress. I look up to her so much.”
On her relationship with Dakota: “Oh, sure. We’re always talking (via Skype or the phone) and I get to hear how things are going for her since she’s gone away to university (in New York). I’m so proud of everything she’s accomplished and she made things so much easier for me when I was learning the business and she could teach me a lot of things.
We’ve never been competitive – we’re really friendly. We each do our own thing, but we’ve got this mutual connection. We both know what it’s like to work on a set, what’s going on when you make a movie. We get to visit each other on our sets – and then see each other’s finished productions. I’d love to do something together. I’m always thinking about it.”
On what she loves to do beside act: I love taking ballet class. It teaches you a lot about movement and discipline and I enjoy that a lot. I also love going to ballets with my mom or my ballet teacher. It’s so beautiful to watch the ballerinas and the performances. I get caught up in the theatrical aspect.
