And The Songbird

Miley Cyrus and the Flaming Lips opened up to Rolling Stone Magazine about their “unlikely collaboration” in their newest issue. Miley and the Flaming Lips recorded their own versions of The Beatles, “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” and “A Day in the Life. earlier this year”

In the issue, Miley talks what the group has taught her, working with them on her next album, and frontman, Wayen Coyne, talks working with Miley. Highlights can be found below.

On working with Miley: “Our shows are very childlike, like kids on acid, and hers are too. We’re so much alike in believing art is supposed to be fun. She’s just a freak. I love her to death.”

On what they have taught her:“They taught me to sing into the sadness, and that’s helped me a lot on tour. Because I would’ve felt like I can’t keep smiling, and I can’t, like, go dance on this gold car, and act like I’m happy when I’m fucking not.”

On working with them her next album: “On my last record, everything we did was with computers. But they’re real musicians – they can change keys on a whim. I’ve never seen anything like it. They’ve had me on this journey that’s greater than anything I’ve been on. It’s really deep.”

To read the full interview make sure to pick up the issue of May 22! I can’t wait to hear their covers.
