BeautifulBallad Reviews Guardians of the Galaxy
Guardians of the Galaxy tells the story of five outcasts, brought together by greed and their quest to protect a mysterious orb from Ronan the Accuser. Directed by James Gunn, the latest creation in the Marvel Universe lives up to the expectations set by its predecessors. The film is entertaining throughout with hilarious lines and solid pop culture references.
The acting in the film surpassed expectations. Chris Pratt, who plays the American pilot Starlord, proved through his comedic timing and use of non-verbals that he is capable of making the transition from TV to Film. The CGI characters, Groot and Rocket, voiced by Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, make quite the interesting team with great comedic timing (which is amazing since Groot says the same words throughout the film).
While understandable, the amount of CGI used is overwhelming and at times detracted from the film. Certain moments in the film were overshadowed due to the CGI. The brief moments of slow motion used, in order to enhance the 3D aspect of the movie, also hindered the movie. Many times these moments were used in the middle of an action sequence that should have remain uninterrupted.
Whether you’re a fan of the Guardians or a lover of the Marvel franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy is a film you won’t want to miss. It’s a funny, entertaining experience that will leave you wanting more (good thing a sequel is scheduled for 2017!)
P.S. Per usual, stick around for the post-credit scenes.
