Than You Do Right Now
Rolling Stone Country went behind the scenes of Lucy Hale’s iHeart Radio performance in Los Angeles earlier this month. They talked to the “Road Between” singer about performing live, magazine shoots, and more before she hit the stage for her performance.
Highlights from her interview can be found below and photos from the performance can be found in the gallery.
On performing “Nervous Girl”: “‘Nervous Girl’ is a song where I discover something new every time I sing it. I relate to every lyric in the song. I’ve always had a really emotional connection to it. I don’t think my eyes are ever open when I’m performing it. I kind of just get lost in it. After I sing it and I open my eyes, I love looking out at the girls in the audience and seeing their reaction.”
On being on the cover of magazines: “The connection [with] a photographer can be really uncomfortable for me. You’d think that I’d be very comfortable with photo shoots and I still am not, because I don’t consider myself a model. I sing and I like acting. So every time I go to a photo shoot I feel uncomfortable and a little out of my element.”
On how she gets ready for a show: “Everyone always asks, ‘What do you do to relax before a show?’ But what really does relax me is getting ready. That kind of calms my brain a bit. I’m not usually around a lot of people; I’m just usually alone. Obviously, the photographer was in the room [for this photo] but putting on makeup kind of gets me prepared so I can relax.”
I really need Lucy to jump on tour with someone! I need to see her live ASAP!
