All The People Say
Taylor Swift opened up about her new album in a recent interview. The young singer spoke about 1989, streaming music, and so much more in her sit down. Highlights from the interview are below.
On not streaming her new album: “If I had streamed the new album, it’s impossible to try to speculate what would have happened. But all I can say is that music is changing so quickly, and the landscape of the music industry itself is changing so quickly, that everything new, like Spotify, all feels to me a bit like a grand experiment. And I’m not wiling to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists, and creators of this music. And I just don’t agree with perpetuating the perception that music has no value and should be free.”
On choosing “Blank Space” as the next single: “Yeah, ‘Blank Space.’ The fans tend to decide the singles relatively quickly for us. We don’t even need to do much as far as A&R work, because they are very vocal about their favorites. In my mind, I have a very clear picture about singles one, two, three. I’m up in the air about four, but I think that it will present itself just like all the other ones have. It’s really exciting to see people have so many favorites and be very, very clear about which ones they think should be singles.”
