Katy Perry Speaks Out About Her Mean Girls Tweet Rumored To Be About Taylor Swift
Katy Perry recently opened up about her Mean Girls tweet from this past summer that many believed to be about Taylor Swift and Taylor’s song “Bad Blood”. Katy, who is currently gearing up for her Super Bowl Halftime show, revealed this information during a recent chat with Billboard magazine.
According to Katy the tweet was to defend her character. She states, “If somebody is trying to defame my character, you’re going to hear about it.” Katy does not go into any more details on the topic nor does she confirm who the tweet was meant for, but many assume that it was in regards to Taylor’s remarks on being betrayed by a fellow colleague.
For those who don’t know, during Taylor’s Red Tour a couple of her dancers jumped ship to Katy’s Prism Tour leaving Taylor feeling very hurt. One of those dancers spoke out about the incident, stating that they had danced with Katy previously and when the star contacted them for her new tour, he felt he would get more out joining Katy’s tour then staying on Taylor’s tour.
However, this incident was enough for Taylor to write a song about Katy on her new album 1989, called “Bad Blood”. She also spoke about it in an interview and referring to the song’s target as a “straight-up enemy”. Her remarks are what led Katy to tweet, “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing.”
I respect that Katy wanted to defend her character and didn’t want to go into any more details on it. However, this whole ordeal between the two just seems so childish.
