Kidnapping Mr. Heineken Review

Kidnapping Mr. Heineken follows the true story of the kidnapping of business tycoon Alfred “Freddy” Heineken in the Netherlands in 1983. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Sam Worthington and Jim Sturgess, the film shows the planning that went into kidnapping Heineken and its execution.

Anthony Hopkins plays Alfred “Freddy” Heineken and did a nice job portraying the kidnapped tycoon. With little to go off of, nHopkins made the most of what he was given and, for me, was the best part of the movie.

Sam Worthington, Jim Sturgess, and Ryan Kwanten played three of the five kidnappers, Cor, Willem and Jan. The trio were fine in their roles but the story lacked a solid plot. The little plot made how these men pulled the crime off seem even more impropable. There was not enough detail leading up to the actual kidnapping to make this high-profile of a crime believable.

Kidnapping Mr. Heineken hits theaters today, March 56, but might be worth waiting until it comes out on DVD or catch it on iTunes or On Demand when it is released today.
