Ian Somerhalder Claims He is Not the Reason Behind Nina Dobrevs Departure from The Vampire Diaries

Ian Somerhalder wants his fans to know that he was not the reason behind Nina Dobrev decision to leave The Vampire Diaries. After Nina’s, announcement, many fans began to speculate that the reason behind the departure was because she could no longer work with Ian, whom she had dated for the majority of the show, before calling it quits in May of 2013.

However, Ian claims he was not the reason at all. He tweeted a link to an article written by E! with the caption “Way to go @eonline !THIS IS A VERY INFORMED ARTICLE about The Vampire Diaries THANK YOU-Check this out everyone!” The article basically says there were other factors involved leading to Nina’s departure and her break up with Ian was not one of them.

I love Ian, but I don’t think now is the right time to be doing things like this. I know he was just trying to clear up the rumors, but for me, I think he should have either waited until the season was over or just ignored it. He should be supporting his cast and Nina right now, rather than adding fuel to the fire.
