BeautifulBallad Reviews Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Avengers: Age of Ultron is an explosive sequel to the 2012 blockbuster, Avengers. Directed by Joss Whedon, this comic adventure once again brings together earth’s mightiest heroes, (Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johannson, and Jeremy Renner) to protect the world from Ultron (James Spader) and his mission for global destruction.
Much like its predecessor, the film is filled with humor and action packed sequences from start to finish. Age of Ultron kicks off with the Avengers invading a rogue Hydra base in Russia, where they receive quite the welcome from newcomers, Wanda (Scarlet Witch) and Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver), played by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor Johnson.
Elizabeth’s portrayal of Wanda was one of the best parts of the movie. The struggle to understand her power and the struggle to overcome her fear was beautifully shown by Elizabeth. Aaron’s scenes with Jeremy Renner’s character, Hawkeye were some of my favorites in the film. Their chemistry and spot on comedic timing brought humor to scenes that would have probably been too stern or too action packed. My only wish is that Elizabeth and Aaron had more dialogue with the Avengers.
The villain this time around is a robot, Ultron, originally created to bring peace to the world. However, he gets a little out of control and sets out on a journey for global destruction. Overall, Ultron was a good foe for the team, but lacked the charisma of the first movie’s villain, Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston. Hiddleston just had something about him that made me love and hate Loki all at one time. I did not feel that way with Ultron.
All in all I would recommend to anyone wanting to see this movie, see it. It is worth seeing in theaters, preferably in IMAX if you have an IMAX theater near you. I think Age of Ultron lived up to its predecessor and did a great job setting up the next phase of Marvel movies.
