San Andreas Review
Warner Bros. San Andreas is based off the San Andreas Fault line which runs from Los Angeles, CA to San Francisco, CA. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Colton Haynes and Carla Gugino, the movie tells the story of a Los Angeles Fire & Rescue captain/father, who must save his family during the San Andreas earthquake.
This action packed film kept the audience at the edge of their seat. Every earthquake, aftershock, and tsunami pumped up the adrenaline. However, much like the city of San Francisco in the film, when the action scenes were over there was nothing left.
The dialogue and plotline were very predictable and didn’t provide the actors with much to work with. The story played out like most disaster movies: guy saves girl, guy gets girl. it was all a bit plodding and boring when the action was missing.
There were a handful of funny moments in the movie, particularly the scene that has Paul Giamatti’s character, Cal Tech professor and seismologist Lawrence Hayes, asking the Cal Tech media lab for help. Besides that scene and a few one liners, the film wasn’t anything special.
For those who want to see this movie, I would suggest waiting until it is available on DVD or On Demand. For those who can’t wait to see it, make sure to see it in 2D. It is not worth seeing in 3D.
