ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder returned last night, September 24, with its Season 2 premiere and what an episode it was. In the span of an hour, Rebecca’s killer was revealed, the gang had a new case, and the last two minutes left the audience with a cliffhanger, which deliciously set up the story arc for the upcoming season.

The episode did a great job of reminding people why they watched and loved the first season. The chemistry between the characters was off the charts and the dialogue featured a good amount of wit and humor.

Unlike last year, they have changed up the case of the week storyline. This time the case will be carried out throughout the season. This new case focuses on a brother and sister, who are accused of killing their adoptive parents. Annalise is not originally assigned the case, but has the Keating 5 and Asher find ways to sabotage the defense, so they can end up with the case.
While the kids are dealing with the case, it is finally revealed who Annalise called at the end of last season. She called her old friend and former lover, Eve (Famke Jassen), to represent Nate, who is on trial for killing Sam. Famke and Viola’s characters create quite the drama in this episode that will only increase over the next couple of episodes.

The two biggest shockers of the night were, of course, the reveal of Rebecca’s killer and the cliffhanger at the episode. After going back and forth all episode long on who killed Rebecca, Annalise finally figures out the answer. Annalise confronts a calm and resilient Bonnie about the killing. This reveal is going to add some great tension between these two this season. It will be interesting to see if Annalise protects Bonnie like she did Wes and the rest of the Keating 5 last season.

Lastly, at the end of the episode, the audience is left with the image of Annalise lying on the floor, in a pool of her own blood, after an apparently being shot. She is still alive, but now it begs the question, who shot Annalise? Now this scene happens two month in the future. It is set up so the audience is led to believe that it was Wes that shot her, as he is seen in the prior scene running out of the home, where she was shot. Though you are also led to think that it may be the couple she is defending as it is their house she was shot in.

Whoever it was, we will definitely be finding out by the end of the season! What did you guys think of last night’s episode? Any theories on who shot Annalise?
