Selena Gomez Chats Revival, Justin Bieber, & Her Personal Struggles In New Interview

Selena Gomez is featured in a new article for Refinery29. Selena chatted with the media outlet to promote her new album, Revival. Highlights can be found below.

On her past year: “The year wasn’t just me trying to transition in my career — it was my whole life. I had to reconfigure everything. That was a little uncomfortable and very scary. I didn’t have anything to fall back on. At the same time, the public perception of me was unfair and very invasive. I was trying to figure out all my own stuff in my personal life while everybody had an opinion.”

On traveling to Mexico to write the album: “I think [the label] thought I was trying to get a free vacation. I got to find myself there. It does not mean I have everything figured out and I’m awesome. Not at all. I just felt this sense of groundedness and structure and stability I had been craving for a long time.”

On the status of her relationship with ex. Justin Bieber: “At this point, there is no anger. There’s closure in a very good, healthy way. We’ve seen each other. I’m always encouraging and I am proud of his journey. I think people are making it out to be something that is more tragic than it really was. We grew up together. We both made mistakes. That’s it.”
