BeautifulBallad Reviews Rupert Grint’s New Film Moonwalkers
Moonwalkers, starring Rupert Grint and Ron Pearlman, tells the tale of a down on his luck manager (Grint) and a CIA agent (Pearlman), who have to team together to fake the landing on the moon.
Going into this film one would think that it would be quite the comedy. The thought of two people having to fake the moon landing, plus the addition of Grint and Pearlman sounds like it should be a funny movie; however, it was not. The characters held no charm, the plot is a tad bit confusing, and many times throughout the movie it felt as though the filmmaker was throwing things in for shock value instead of for plot/character development.
With the material given, Grint and Pearlman do a decent job of creating personalities for what could have been exceptionally boring characters. Grint’s scenes with Robert Sheehan, in particular, were some of the best scenes in the film. Sheehan is underused in the movie and many of the other secondary characters fade in and out so much that you lose track of who they are.
Overall, this film was a little too gory, not nearly as funny as one would hope, and quite slow at points. This film is definitely not for everyone, so if you have a desire to see it, I would wait until you can watch it at home. Not even a matinee showing is worth it.
