Taylor Swift Speaks Out on Kanye West Lyric?
Last night, February 11, it was revealed that Kanye West apparently mentions Taylor Swift in his new song “Famous”. Many sources began reporting that Taylor knew about the line and was okay with him releasing the song, but apparently that is not true at all.
An apparent spokesperson for Taylor Swift (via Jon Caramanica) revealed that Kanye never called Taylor to ask for approval and that Taylor had no idea the lyric was even in the song. However, Taylor did allegedly caution Kayne about releasing the song and its strong misogynistic message.
I guess we will just have to see what happens over the next couple of days. It will interesting to see if anything is mentioned about it at the Grammy Awards this Monday, February 15.
UPDATE: Kanye has responded! Kanye tweeted this morning, February 12, claiming it was Taylor’s idea. Kanye said, “5th thing I’m not even gone take credit for the idea… it’s actually something Taylor came up with …” He also said that Taylor WAS okay with the line. She thought “it was funny and gave her blessing”.
