REVIEW: Zootopia Proves Being Different is A Good Thing
Zootopia is a heartwarming film with lead characters you will root for all the way through. Judy Hops (Ginnifer Goodwin), believes she can be whatever she wants to be, and her surprising partner in crime, Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), relies on only his wits, but together they prove that being different is a good thing.
Starring the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Idris Elba, this buddy cop comedy focuses on a young rookie cop (Judy Hops) and her desire to make a name for herself. Judy is the first bunny to pass the police academy and she is immediately placed on meter duty her first day on the force. Desperate to prove herself, she begins her own investigation into the animals that are randomly disappearing throughout Zootopia. A chance encounter with sly fox, Nick Wilde is just the lead Judy needs to kick off her case.
Filled with plenty of laughs and an easy rapport between the two leads, Judy and Nick the audience on a wild tour around Zootopia. The casting in this movie is spot on. Goodwin excellently straddles the fine line between eager and annoying with Judy while Bateman’s often dry delivery as Nick is consistently well-played. Elba, JK Simmons and a delightful surprise from Tommy Chong round out the cast.
Children of all ages, and Disney fans, will be endlessly entertained by the film. The humor and animation will delight everyone while mom and dad will love the positive message throughout, that being different is good.
