Selena Gomez Chats About Revival, SNL, & Her Experience With Lupus With GQ Magazine
On “Good For You” being her first single off Revival: “My label didn’t want it to be the first single. It was kind of a little bit more of a risk, and he [A$AP ROCKY] mentioned that when I sent him the track. It was like, ‘At least you’re f***ing doing it. That’s cool.’ I think that was literally verbatim. He was like, ‘This is cool that she’s actually doing it.'”
On her treatment for Lupus at a rehab facility: “First off, this is something that everyone always wants to fixate on. I got diagnosed with lupus. My mom had a very public miscarriage. So I had to cancel my tour. I needed time to just be okay. And I was going through leukemia’—I think she means chemotherapy here—’and I went to two different locations for those treatments. It’s really frustrating, because I am 100 percent allowed to have that, but I think people just want to have some sort of—”
On performing on Saturday Night Live: “I just remember being really nervous, and rehearsing it on the stage kind of freaked me out, and it got to me a little bit”.
