Supergirl Casting Lena Luthor, Snapper Carr & More for Season 2

It looks like with the move to the CW, Supergirl is uping its character numbers! The show is in the midst of casting two series regular roles and three recurring roles, this not including the casting of Clark Kent aka Superman.

Here are the details…the two series regular characters being introduced next season are Lena Luther and Nick Farrow. Lena is the younger sister to Superman’s nemesis, Lex, who is in National City to get out from under her brother’s shadow and determined to make a name for herself. Farrow is a “brash leading man” who will butt heads with Kara at CatCo next season.

The recurring characters are the Doctor, leader of Project Cadmus, Maggie, an out and proud detective inspired by comic book character Maggie Sawyer and journalist Snapper Carr. FYI, this Carr is kind of based off the character introduced in the Justice League animated series and not the comic book sidekick.

I have a couple of worries in regards to these casting announcements, most with the introduction of Lena. I hope they find a way to make Kara and Lena’s storyline original and not similar to Clark and Lex’s story. Though I am excited with the addition of this version of Carr. I think they could do something really fun with the character.

Also, my guess is the Superman casting announcement will be made at San Diego Comic Con this year. They will either verbally tell us or the person playing the man in the red cape will appear during the panel. That is if they attend this year.

One more thing, with the series regulars number now to 8, and the addition of two reporter type characters, I wonder if we will see less of Calista Flockhart next season. I hope not, but with the move to Vancouver I can’t see her filming a full season next year. I hope I’m wrong.
