Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson Create Non Stop Laughs in Central Intelligence
Central Intelligence is a hilarious ride from start to finish, starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. Johnson and Hart’s chemistry lights up the film and almost jumps off the screen.
The comedy tells the story of Bob Stone (Johnson), a previously heavy child, who is now an agent with the Central Intelligence Agency and Calvin Joyner (Hart), “Mr. Popular” in high school, who is now a forensic accountant. As former high school classmates, Bob enlists Calvin for his accounting abilities to help him take down his latest foe, the Black Badger.
The film is non-stop laughs. Johnson and Hart are perfectly cast as the over-the-top Bob and down-to-earth Calvin, respectively. The two play extremely well off one another, which makes most of their
scenes together incredibly funny. Separately, they are just as funny especially Hart, who is just as strong with his physical acting as with his comedic timing.
The story has a nice message in that “You are the Hero to your own story”, and the characters prove this, although at times it feels like the message has gone off course.
The plot is simple but more backstory on the characters, especially how Bob came to be work at the CIA after high school, would have been a welcome addition.
The editing in the opening scenes of the movie is the lone drawback. It opens with flashback scenes from the characters in high school and the way the characters were edited does not show on the screen well.
If you are looking for something to watch this weekend that is lighthearted and will make you laugh this movie is for you. There is also a surprise cameo in it, which I think, many people will love.
