Highlights From The Vampire Diaries San Diego Comic Con Panel

The Vampire Diaries held their final San Diego Comic Con panel ever today, July 23. Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Kat Graham, Candice Accola, Michael Malarkey, Zach Roerig, and Matthew Davis were all on hand to celebrate the show and thanks fans for an amazing seven years.

During the panel, the cast and crew announced that the eighth season would indeed be the show’s last. In honor of the saddening news, the panel put together a very heart jerking video to thank fans for the amazing years. Executive producer, Julie Plec, also announced that the show would return back to Mystic Falls this season and that the titles of each episode would be a line of dialogue from season 1.

After tears were wiped away the cast opened up about the upcoming season and delved a bit into what fans can expect from the final season. Paul revealed that in the upcoming season Stefan will needshis relationship with Caroline to remain grounded, but he is unsure if the pair would be together this season.

For Caroline, Candice says that she will be juggling with a lot this season and that fans will see more from children. For Bonnie, Kat says that at the beginning of the season she has hit ground zero and the first half of the season will be building her backup.

Finally, in regards to the big bad for the a season. The cast describes her as evil herself and that she is rooted in a really great mythology, Overall, this season is about bringing everything and everyone home in a way that will leave fans satisfied.
