Go In Depth on The Girl and the Dreamcatcher’s New EP, Negatives

The Girl and the Dreamcatcher just released their new EP Negatives this past Friday, July 29. Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan spent the past weekend in New York City promoting the new six track album.

Under the jump, you will find details on the theme of each song that appears on the new project. The EP is really fun, so make sure to listen to it in the playlist above. Then once you have listened let us know what you think in the comments below?

For those who already have listened and/or own the EP what do you think?

“My Way”
In keeping with the motif of their personal and professional lifestyle, Cameron and McCartan conceptualized My Way to exemplify their craving for individuality.
My Way is a laid back, “chill-pop” response to a world with an affinity for cookie-cutter formatting.

“Gladiator”
Offering Coachella-vibe harmonies and mammoth, echoic production, Gladiator starts sweet, u-turning into a song that’s big enough to live up to its name.
Fragmented intricately, the complexity and simplicity of this piece intertwines to tell the story about a love worth fighting for.

“Cry Wolf”
Cry Wolf jams out with upbeat syncopation and alien ping, but the heavy undertones of the lyric are some of the most in-flux with the theme of the EP.
Cry Wolf speaks directly to one of the biggest “Negatives” in young relationships: The constant ebb and flow of leaving and coming back.

“Monster”
Pairing natural, open sounds and big strings with a darkly romantic melody and lyric, ‘Monster’ is the lone ballad of the EP,
grounding its surrounding anthemic tracks with a more emotional approach to The Girl and the Dreamcatcher’s “wall of sound” style.

“Glowing In The Dark”
As one of their earliest singles, “Glowing in the Dark” helped to make a lasting impression on TGATDC’s dedicated fan base, opening up
a space for them to continue to develop their “left-pop” take on modern music.
With its unconventional tribal pulse, the heightened vocals of the gang-y hook will stick in your head for weeks.

“Make You Stay”
Make You Stay was the band’s most highly anticipated single to date, and had fans already singing along at shows even before it was released.
This ear-worm is one of their more vocal-centric songs. It is a romantic, heart-pumping, jump up and down tribute to the desperation of love.
