Stan Lee Supports Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Stan Lee is backing Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Zendaya will apparently be playing the iconic Spider-Man character after months of speculation.

When Zendaya was first cast it was announced that she would be playing a character named Michelle. However, fans wondered if she was really playing Mary Jane and Michelle was just a cover-up.

Now, The Wrap is reporting that the star is indeed playing MJ, which led some comic fans into an uproar. When asked if he was okay with the casting, Stan Lee told the Toronto Sun, “If she is as good an actress as I hear she is, I think it’ll be absolutely wonderful … The colour of their skin doesn’t matter, their religion doesn’t matter. All that matters is that this the right person for the role.”

The studio has yet to announce if Zendaya is 100% playing MJ, so right now it is still a rumor. Hopefully, they announce something soon. Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 21, 2017!
