Yara Shahidi and Rowan Blanchard Take Part in the International Day of the Girl Event
Yara Shahidi and Rowan Blanchard took part in the International Day of the Girl event in Washington, D.C. today, October 11. The girls were joined at the event by Glamour, Maybeline and First Lady Michelle Obama.
During the event, Yara joined the First Lady and Cindi Leive, Editor-in-chief of Glamour magazine, on stage at the Newseum, where the trio talked about the importance of women’s education.
The day was held to raise awareness on education inequality. There are around 50 million girls world wide who do not have access to education and Glamour and Maybeline intend to change that. The two have teamed up on Glamour’s Girl Project to bring education to those women who do not have access to it. By the end of 2020, the companies hope to provide 200,000 girls with access to a quality secondary education.
