Emma Stone Covers Desert Magazine
Emma Stone is on the cover of Desert Magazine. The actress is on the cover of the Palm Springs, California lifestyle magazine’s January 2017 issue.
In the issue, Emma talks her new film, La La Land, her musical theater dreams, taking on more dramatic roles, Birdman and so much more. Highlights can be found below.
On her musical theater dreams: “I don’t think I put too much stock in my musical theater dreams as a kid because I never really measured up to [Broadway stars] Sutton Foster or Idina Menzel,” she says. “So, I was like, ‘Well, it’s not going to go my way. I love musical theater and I’ll keep watching it, but it’s not going to be what I do.’”
On taking on more dramatic roles: “I thought I would be doing comedy long-term, whether it was sitcoms or anything like that. The things I did early on, like ‘Superbad’ and ‘The House Bunny’ and ‘Easy A,’ were more in that kind of vein. But, in scene study [at the Young Actors Space], I started getting the opportunity to do more dramatic stuff. When I was doing press for ‘The Help,’ I remember everybody asking me, ‘What’s it like to do something like this because you’re a funny person?’ I don’t know. I’ve sort of learned as I’ve gone.”
