REVIEW: Reality Comes Crashing Down On Bay & Daphne In The Season Premiere Of Switched At Birth
The season premiere of Switched at Birth airs tonight, January 31, on Freeform and fans are in for quite a treat. The episode opens with Bay and Daphne two months into their Chinese adventure and already they are facing some very tough circumstances and decisions. However, after the massive eight month time jump fans come to see that the two have adapted to living in the new country. Every one of our characters seem to be in a relatively good place in the present until a call has Bay and Daphne on the first flight back to Kansas City. From there, the tension and drama escalates to quite a climactic and interesting last few minutes.
What makes this episode so good is the fact that the layers of surprise and drama unveiled during the premiere only add to the storyline already in play from last season. The tension between Bay and Emmett is still very apparen,t even after certain events, and Daphne is hitting some major obstacles on her road to being a doctor. These moments become threaded together into a much bigger storyline for both of the girls that will leave fans wanting answers fast.
This episode, however, does have its downfalls. Some of our favorite characters are missing in action and a few storylines are left with very little detail, but with the amount of information given to the fans in the hour long episode, it’s warranted.
All in all, this episode sets up the finale season for what should be quite the tear jerking race to the finish. If all goes to plan, no fan will be left upset when the final moments of the series air this spring.
