Ian Somerhalder Says Goodbye to The Vampire Diaries

That's an official wrap on the Vampire Diaries. From the 1st day to the last night… I was the last to leave our stages early this morning, not a single crew member, not a sound. To the fans, thank you for it all we would have never been on this journey without you. To all who made this show possible- we did it. 8 years, wow. Thank you all. Love, Ian

Ian Somerhalder has officially said goodbye to The Vampire Diaries. After being the last person to leave the show’s sound stage early this morning, February 9. Ian took to his Instagram to thank all the fans for their support since Day 1.

The show wrapped filming on the series yesterday, February 8 after spending the past week filming for it. Set to air this coming March, Nina Dobrev, David Anders, Steven R. McQueen and Michael Trevino were all on set this past week to pay homage to the show and to film scenes for the finale.

What a great post from Ian! Not going to lie, imagining him being the last person on set this morning had me tearing up.
