Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, Are They or Aren’t They?
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone may have split in 2015 but their recent actions indicate the pair may have rekindled their love. The two have been on the award show circuit, separately, for the past couple of months and some interactions have lead many fans to believe the two are back together.
The duo, who met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man, began dating in 2011 and stayed a pretty tight unit until their apparent break-up in October of 2015. The split was supposedly amicable and the
pair were not spotted together again until Emma was in London last August. There were rumors Emma and Andrew had gone on a cruise of the Aegean sea with friends in June of 2016, but it wasn’t until the two were spotted out for a casual stroll that the first are they/aren’t they rumors started.
Things were quiet between the pair until October of 2016 when Emma’s Vogue November cover issue was released. In the issue, Emma discussed her relationship with Andrew saying, “[He’s] someone I still love very much. I’m really glad you’re sitting down so I can tell you,”
She also revealed in her Vogue “73 Questions with Emma Stone” video (which can be found below) the best present she ever received was a homemade rocking chair. She did not say who made it for her, but fans were quick to put two and two together. When Andrew was working on his film, 99 Homes, one of the things he had to learn was woodworking. In an interview with Vanity Fair Andrew talked learning to woodwork and how he used the techniques he learned to build a rocking chair.
In December, The Hollywood Reporter released their “Actors Roundtable”, featuring Andrew. During the roundtable, each actor was asked which actor or actress they would want to be stranded on a desert island with and Andrew’s answer was, “Emma Stone. I love Emma. She’s all right. She can come.” When asked about this comment at the Critics’ Choice Awards (video under the jump) Andrew gushed to E! how Emma was the “greatest”.
During that awards show, the two were also seen joking around and making faces at one another from their separate tables. Andrew even made a point to have Mel Gibson wave at Emma and her date, her brother Spencer during one of these moments. You can see that video under the jump.
At the beginning of January, Emma and Andrew attended the AFI Awards luncheon, where they were spotted chatting with one another and their table guests. It was around this time W Magazine also released a video of Andrew talking about his idea of Heaven, which was the time he celebrated his 29th birthday at Disneyland with his friends and Emma Stone. You can watch that video below the jump.
Emma or Andrew were not spotted together at the Golden Globes, but when Emma won “Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical-Motion Picture” Andrew was the first person to jump and give Emma a standing ovation.
After the Golden Globes, Andrew appeared on the Little Gold Men podcast (video under the jump) where he was asked about doing award season with Emma and he told the podcast, “We care about each other so much, and that’s a given, that’s kind of this unconditional thing. There’s so much love between us and so much respect. I’m her biggest fan as an artist. So for me, it’s been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress that she is. And it’s also been wonderful to have that kind of support for each other. It’s nothing but a beautiful thing.”
It’s true this could be a case of friend supporting friend but at the end of January, once Emma was done press for La La Land in London, she opted to stay in town a few extra days where she was seen spending time with Andrew’s friends. The group attended a live screening of Woody Harrelson’s film Lost In London and, although, Andrew was not seen with them this certainly prompted fans to wonder whether the pair was back together.
On Saturday, February 11, the pair attended the BAFTA nominees party at Kensington Palace, where inside the two were seen sharing a massive hug. Yesterday, February 12, at the BAFTA awards, fans caught a glimpse of Emma waving in the direction of where Andrew is sitting.
All of this could mean the two are nothing more than friends and Emma told Rolling Stone magazine in December that she was single. But fans, including myself, have always wondered if the two actually did break up or if it was more of a step back, time apart, to focus on their careers type thing. Emma staying a few extra days in London, where Andrew was, for no apparent reason certainly makes fans feel they are more than friends.
What do you guys think? Do you think these two are back together or maybe never broke up at all?
