Black-ish Spin-Off, Liberal Arts starring Yara Shahidi, Eying Freeform Series Pick-Up

The black-ish spin-off, Liberal Arts starring Yara Shahidi, is currently in good standing to be picked up for the upcoming 2017-2018 TV season, but not by ABC. Apparently, the show is being eyed by ABC’s sister network, Freeform.

Deadline is reporting, “that Freeform is in talks for a series order to the project, which originated as a planted spinoff episode of the mothership ABC series that aired this spring.” Yara Shahidi’s Zoey will lead the show, which will follow her as she embarks on her freshman year of college.

I love this plan! It didn’t make sense to me for it to be on ABC, but it is a perfect fit for Freeform. Here’s hoping they pick it up!
