BB Exclusive: Aisha Dee Chats The Season Finale Of The Bold Type

The season finale of The Bold Type airs tonight, September 5, on Freeform and we have an exclusive preview for you! Aisha Dee, who plays Kat on the hit series, took some time out of her busy day to chat with us about Kat’s future and the upcoming finale.

On where the audience will find Kat during the finale: “At the end of Nine, we see that she doesn’t get on the plane with Adena and I think, I have friends who watch it, and everyone feels differently about that scene and whether or not she should have gone. You’ll see in Ten her dealing with the consequences of that and how she feels about whether she did or didn’t go. Also, all three girls come to a point where they’re all making decisions and making their lives go in the direction that they’ve been wanting.”

On why she thinks Kat opted to stay: “I think she just realized how spur of the moment, and almost silly, it was to think that she could just go somewhere without letting anyone know what’s happening. She also realized the only reason she was going was to do something unexpected. She didn’t really think it through so much. It was more giving into the moment, which I guess sometimes, can be good, but I think for Kat she just realized that she did actually want to think it through, which is kind of against type for her because she seems to act on impulse a lot. Throughout the series we see her acting on a whim and just doing something because it feels right in the moment and this is the first time she’s actually assessing the situation and saying maybe its best to stay right now.”

On Sutton and Jane’s reaction to Kat’s decision: “I think all of that will come out in the first act, that Kat explains herself a little bit. It’s always been interesting to me how much Kat has this way of telling a story and the way that something happens she will tell nonchalantly, even though it was a very existential moment. She’ll tell the girls a story later and act like it was no big thing. I think it is interesting to see how she’ll describe the situation to them, but eventually everything will come out.”

On whether Kat regrets her decision to stay: “Yeah, that passport I think was still in her bag from when she was at the airport and now she’s just kind of…I think that the big reason for why she wants to go on that plane is to go on an adventure. It’s exciting and I think that’s where the regret comes from. It evolves into a lot of different things, it’s not a simple answer, why she almost got on the plane. There are a lot of different factors in there. Episode Ten is really about her figuring out exactly what the specifics of that are.”

On what fans can expect from the finale: “The finale is emotional, but it’s a lot of fun and a lot of what the series has been up to this point. All of the characters supporting one another and banding together and helping each other. You’ll also get to see a little more of the three girls together, episode Ten you’ll get to see the girls come together and more of that the series has been about at this point. “
