K.J. Apa Discusses His Car Accident & Riverdale In New Interview

K.J. Apa sat down with Esquire to discuss the newest season of Riverdale. The young actor reprises his role as Archie Andrews during the second season. Highlights are below.

On wanting to play a superhero: “All the spots are being taken up while I’m shooting Riverdale. I was actually Spider-Man for Halloween. I think doing some more physical roles would really excite me.”

On not being allowed to film his own stunts during the rumble scene: “Actor-on-actor [fighting] is not allowed—it always has to be with another stuntman. I broke my hand during one of the scenes in the first season, so they’re not so sure about me.”

On his recent car accident: “That was just a one-off accident, and it was a mistake on my part. I should have pulled over and gone to sleep instead of battling my way home. But I learned from it. It was a blessing in disguise. I came out unscathed, and I thank God that I’m okay—it could have been a lot worse.”
