K.J. Apa has joined the cast of The Hate U Give. The young actor will be replacing Kian Lawley in this new coming of age drama as the male lead.

For those who don’t know, filming had almost wrapped with Kian was dropped from the film after racially offensive video from Kian was released. K.J. quickly stepped up to the plate to fill the role and is now currently in the midst of filming reshoots alongside Amandla Stenberg.
