Normani Kordei Opens Up About Collaborating With Missy Elliott & Going Solo In New Interview
Normani Kordei recently chatted with Billboard after signing with Keep Cool/RCA Records earlier last week. The young singer is on of the first artists to sign with RCA’s new label. Highlights from her interview are below.
On teaming with Keep Cool/RCA Records: “[Balogun] said that he’d been wanting to work with me and saw something in me as an artist but was waiting for the right time. I met with the rest of RCA and they made me feel super welcome. It’s very much family vibes — like, my mom was in the room and they made her feel very comfortable as well.”
On collaborating with Missy Elliott: “I’ll be working with Missy Elliott soon, and the fact that she’s even willing to take a chance on me as a new artist means a lot, considering that she’s the one I’ve looked up to since I was a little girl. I literally remember dancing in my grandmother’s living room to all of Missy Elliott’s records. She’s such an innovator, and there’s no one else out there like her. The fact that she is willing to work with me…I’m like, ‘Who? Me?'”
