Zoey Deutch Opens Up About Producing In Starring In Her Sister’s New Project The Year of Spectacular Men

Zoey Deutch has recently opened up about producing and starring in her sister’s featured film, The Year of Spectacular Men. Zoey stars as Sabrina in this new coming of age tale written by her sister Madelyn Deutch and directed by her mother, Lea Thompson.

On working with her sister: “The whole process was about as grassroots and personal as you can get. Maddie developed the role of Sabrina especially for me, the role of Sebastian for Avan Jogia, the role of Deb for Lea. So not only were they parts that were tailored for us, they were crafted so that no one else could do them. Plus Nick Braun and Cameron Monaghan were involved and I’ve worked with them before so it was all very inclusive.

On producing the project: “And I really enjoyed producing. I feel like I have a very detail oriented way of working in general, so it was nice to feel like I wasn’t overstepping my boundaries and that it was encouraged, even, expected for me to fill that slot.”

The Year of Spectacular Men opens in theaters on June 15.
