Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole have decided to go their separate ways. The young singer and the pop star, who have a son together, announced the news via their social media today, July 1.

In their statement the pair had this to say, “Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”

Liam and Cheryl, who began their relationship back in 2015, had no other details to share about their separation. Some details may begin to see the light of day the sooner Liam gets to releasing his debut album.
