Emma Watson Teams Up With Future Hockey Players For The Launch Of Hockey Futures Charity
Emma Watson recently attended the Hockey Futures Charity launch event at Thorpe Hall Primary School in Walthamstow, East London. The young actress was joined by Rio 2016 Olympic gold medal winner Helen Richardson-Walsh MBE and Commonwealth & European medallist Emily Defroand for the launch of the new charity.
Emma, who played hockey throughout a majority of her teens and twenties, joined in on the games with the children while coaches from across the country delivered some helpful tips. Hockey Futures mission is “to create a nation where every young person can play hockey. The charity will partner with clubs to create outreach programmes that connect with young people through schools and community organisations up and down the country.”
Emma also spoke with the media about Hockey Futures stating, “Hockey was a big part of my life growing up and I’m thrilled that England Hockey are committed to making the sport more accessible to children all over the country through the launch of Hockey Futures. Hockey is the nation’s most gender equal sport and it was fantastic to visit a Hockey Futures session at Thorpe Hall Primary School and see children playing together, learning new skills – and teaching me some new hockey tricks too!”
