Sofia Carson visited Kenya this past week as part of the latest We Movement project. The young actress revealed her recent journey on her Instagram earlier today, August 2.

Sofia, who has taken part in multiple We Day events, teamed with We Movement and ME to WE to volunteer in Kenya and help bring education to those who need it. She also met with various children, who are the first in their families to receive any formal kind of education.

Sofia wrote a beautiful caption on her Instagram to describe her time after wrapping Descendants 3, which you can check out above and below. Now, Sofia will enjoy a few weeks off before she begins work on her new Freeform series, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

I spent the last week in Kenya with @wemovement and @metowe. Words could never (ever) express what we experienced, so I wanted to share this video with you. It captured just the smallest piece of what I lived. The girls standing beside me are from Maasai Mara, Kenya. They are the first in their families to ever receive an education. The first to step foot into an elementary school, let alone attend high school, and are now on track to be the first to receive a college education. Until a few years ago, there were no schools. There was no hope of ever receiving an education. Try to wrap your head around that. When I asked them what they wanted to do after they graduated, Tiffany (the beautiful girl to my left) said “I’m going to become president of Kenya.” Anicia (the beautiful girl standing right beside Tiffany) said, “I’m going to become a lawyer, but I’m also a great rapper. So I’m going to be an entertainment lawyer AND a rapper.” And there is no part of me that doubts that these girls will do exactly that. This is the incomparable power of education. In their eyes, I saw the true face of girl power. Thank you @wemovement for showing my sister and I what it means to truly change someone’s world. You have changed the lives of thousands and I am honored to be a part of your work in any way that I can. @caass19 @davidjohnson_28 THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. @iamdayvo @jamesdnapier and Jackson we are family now, forever🖤 Asante Sana.
