Taylor Swift Leaves Big Machine Records
Taylor Swift has left Big Machine Records behind and is saying hello to a new record label. The singer, whose contract with Big Machine ended this year, has signed with Republic Records and Universal Music Group.
A source close to Variety is reporting, “that a key element of the deal was a guarantee that UMG will share with artists the proceeds from the expected sale of its Spotify equity next year, and make them non-recoupable against the artists’ earnings”.
Taylor’s previous albums will still belong to Big Machine Records, but all of her new music will apparently belong to her. No word on if that will affect whether or not she performs the songs going forward, but my guess would be it wouldn’t.
I can’t wait to see what this new move brings for the singer!
