The Second Season Of Marvel’s Runaways Gets Off To A Slow Start
The second season of Marvel’s Runaways drops today, December 21, and fans are in for a slow start. Premiering with “Gimme Shelter”, the Runaways are trying to find a place to hide from their wicked parents. Moments into the episode, the Runaways’ luck gets even worse when they are robbed of their money by a homeless teen. From there, Alex separates from the group to find more money for the kids while the rest seek out a new home. With all of this is at play, the parents are on a mission to tie up loose ends that may disrupt their overall goal to get their children back, this leads to some devastating consequences.
After the high octane ending to last season, the premiere episode is less exciting. It’s a small building block created to catch fans up on what was missed last season and to also begin expanding the pieces for the upcoming episode. The Runaways don’t get up to much. Instead most of their time is spent chasing another teen around the city while Alex goes off to paint. For the most part, this episode will most likely be forgotten as the season progresses.
There are some fun moments sprinkled throughout. Every scene with the Runaways together are, once again, some of the best scenes. Karolina (Virginia Gardner) and Nico (Lyrica Okano) fans can look forward to some really cute moments, as well as Chase (Gregg Sulkin) and Gertie (Ariela Barer) fans. Fans even get to see some of them use their powers more.
The season premiere is a bit lackluster and slow. Personally, it’s a good thing this show airs on Hulu, where it can drop multiple episodes in a row. If it wasn’t, they might have a hard time having repeat viewers.
