BB Exclusive: Eline Powell Talks the Ramifications from Siren’s Season 2 Premiere

The Season 2 premiere of Siren took place last night, January 24, and, for those who tuned in, you know there was a lot of information revealed in it. We got the chance to chat with Eline Powell about the episode and what is to come now that the mermaids have arrived.

How is the big reveal at the end of the premiere going to affect Ryn?
“It is an emotional impact, but sometimes when you are in the position of someone who’s taking care of someone, you have to follow your own feelings and do what’s best and sometimes make hard decisions. There’s a lot of emotions going on inside of her in regards to the things you just mentioned. However, she has to lead a whole troop and deal with some heavy duty stuff. She’s going to have to think of- you know I’m going to stop talking because before I say something I’m not allowed to say!

All I will say is it’s going to be very tough on Ryn but she has to remember that she has a bigger job. A lot of people depend on her for things, and therefore she needs to sometimes not be as soft as one would like.”

We know not all the mermaids are happy to see her, how is Ryn going to deal with that?
“The mermaids have to adapt to the new hierarchy on land and for some that’s easily a very tricky concept, and that is a struggle. I understand this adverse point of view because what you’ve done your whole life, you’ve been in a certain position and now that has to be switched. It can be very uncomfortable and we want to scream and shout and make noise, but unfortunately if they want to survive, they’re going to have to learn to trust each other. That seems to be, even in 2019, the most difficult quest of humans and mermaids to trust one another.”

We can see that things are strained between Maddie, Ben, and Ryn, how will that relationship continue for the rest of the season?
“We start the season definitely with this weird atmosphere there, but the outside story that develops around them forces them to bond together and work together. Obviously, those seeds of feelings that were planted in Season 1 will start to grow again. Inevitably, they will have to face what those things are that they are feeling. Was it a primal thing, was it more than that or is it just a song? They will inevitably have to deal with that because of the close proximity they are working in together, and that’s been one of my favorite things this season. The journey of discovering what feelings are and what a relationship means to human and to mermaids, and we will definitely be seeing that in Season 2.”

We know that there is someone undercover in town investigating the death of Aldon Decker. Doe Ryn have any involvement in that?
“It will definitely involve all of us, all of the characters. After everything that has happened in Season 1, the characters even though we leave them all a little bit segregated and separated. They all have this knowledge, this common knowledge. Therefore, they will all be drawn in together when this external, big character from the outside comes in to explore Decker, explore mermaids. It is now something that all the main characters shared in secret and therefore, we will all get affected by it.”

What are you most excited for fans to see this season?
“They are going to see way more underwater scenes, which I’m very excited about. They will see more mermaids, and all the other characters, Helen, Xander, Maddie, some incredible scenes. They’re going to go on some insane journeys, let’s put it that way! More actions and more feelings, bring it.”
